SPRING-FORD SUMMER MUSIC LESSONS
The Spring-Ford Music Department strives to make every student musically literate through creative, engaging, and sequential instruction so they can find meaning in the art of music.

All students in the Spring-Ford Area School District are invited to participate in a five-week private lesson program during the summer break. Lessons are available for:
* Students who currently play a band instrument
* Students who desire to start a new band instrument
* Student who would like to take classical vocal (singing) lessons (grades 7 through 12)
* Students wishing to study strings over the summer should check out the Cool School program being offered this year.

The benefits of summer study are tremendous, and private study will ensure continued musical growth throughout the summer months.

This series of five weekly private lessons, taught by the Spring-Ford music teachers and local music specialists, will begin on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 and will conclude on Thursday, July 27, 2017. Tuesday and Wednesday daytime lessons will be from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Student participants will receive a 30-minute private lesson each week, for up to five weeks, at a cost of $20 per 30-minute lesson. Your child must be able to attend a minimum of three lessons.

JOIN SNAP COMMUNITY WALK THRU
Spring-Ford Students Need an Alternate Party (SNAP) parent volunteers, with the support of the Spring-Ford community, have spent the past 10 months preparing for the annual SNAP Post-Prom Party. The 2017 Post-Prom theme is “GAME ON!” Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and community members, SFAHS juniors and seniors will experience a night they’ll never forget, as the high school is transformed into a true trip across America.

To extend their sincere thanks, SNAP volunteers would like to invite the Spring-Ford community to attend a very special Community Walk Thru Night, in appreciation for their ongoing support. The Community Walk Thru Night is open to all Spring-Ford community members, families and children of all ages. Community members will get to participate in many of the Post-Prom activities that SFAHS students will enjoy, including:
  • Testing of the inflatables, the first few jumps are the best
  • Playing arcade games and possibly setting High Scores before Post-Prom attendees arrive
  • Visiting the Walk of Fame and writing a note to your favorite SFAHS senior
  • And, best of all, seeing how the Spring-Ford community comes together to support our students

WHEN: Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
WHERE: Spring-Ford Area High School, 350 South Lewis Road, Royersford
DETAILS: Community members will see firsthand the results of more than 10 months of planning for the Post-Prom event. Typically, more than 1,500 community members attend the Community Walk Thru Night, before SFAHS students arrive. The Post-Prom event, open only to students, will run from 11 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free to all SFAHS juniors and seniors, whether they attend prom or not.

MINDFUL PARENTING WORKSHOP
Join Spring-Ford on May 10 for a special parent workshop, Mindful Parenting: Creating a Healthy Happy Home. Brian Aikens, Spring-Ford Emotional Support Teacher, will help you discover how mindfulness can help you navigate the joys and stresses of parenting.

Mindful Parenting is the practice of intentionally bringing awareness to everyday parenting situations in order to cultivate and deepen the parent-child relationship, rather than letting our anxiety, frustration, or fatigue dictate our reactions to the challenges that arise.
